Proud moment

When I supported a new client in full-on identity breakdown in session 1

I often coach executives, founders, VCs, etc... and their attachment to their life structure can prevent them from honoring their deepest inner questions. It can be terrifying to ask things like "Is the life I'm living really mine?" "Am I being myself?" But when clients honor what's genuinely emerging in their inner life, it's like their soul actually wakes up, and they start becoming who they really are. Sometimes people do change their life structure... but other times, they end up approaching their same life structure from a new inner place. Either way, it's beautiful. As a coach, my proudest moments are when I'm able to balance challenge and support in a way that makes this kind of soul-emergence possible. My TRULY favorite thing is when the leaders I'm coaching come to understand that while the practicals are important (e.g. calendar management, prioritization, delegation, etc) -- the soul dimension is where you actually become the leader you're meant to be.

When I'm stressed, you might notice me…

Get quiet, close down relationally

As a triple attachment SO 3w4, this is a complex one for me... when I'm triggered, I either don't want you to know, or unconsciously I want you to notice and give me *just* the right kind of attention that makes me see you understand. Sometimes when I'm stressed, I get vague, internally diffuse, and lose the ability to express what I'm stressed about. Usually it's because I'm torn between two ego-agendas: (1) to maintain attachment, and (2) to be seen. In other words, expressing myself to be seen threatens attachment because it might cause more rupture in the relationship. So I can enter a kind of "frozen" state and need to thaw out before I can engage. As I'm writing, I noticed that I answered this prompt as if it said "when I'm triggered..." If I'm just run-of-the-mill stressed, usually I kick into get-shit-done mode and start "handling" things.

Teammates might misunderstand me as...

Not chill. Because actually... I'm not. BUT I WANT YOU TO THINK I AM

I'm only sort of joking. I sometimes present as "Yeah man we can do it however/whenever," but I like to drive fast. (I feel this more in teamwork than in coaching, e.g. the enneagram school. Coaching brings out a more pensive side of me.)
