Things I'd love to learn
Product management, data analytics, scuba diving, pottery, comedic timing
Full storyHow I relax
Hang out with dogs, travel to places I haven't been to, read
Sweat. Most types of sports get my mind off of things.
Full storyTeammates might misunderstand me as...
Too uptight when I'm in productivity mode
When I want to see results, I've conditioned myself to dial down my emotions so that I focus on doing. I feel like I overcorrect my usual empathic traits so much that people may lose their connection to me as a team mate or manager.
Full storyMost fulfilling project I've worked on
Leading a $1M+ product launch for a small company and skyrocketing the biz
I got to translate the vision into a project plan, managed resources strategically, delegated tasks, and built a close relationship with team mates as I oversaw their progress. I also collected customer insights to improve our service offering delivery. It felt great checking things off as deliverables were completed and launched into the public eye. Seeing the sales come in and delighting customers felt incredible.
Full story😬😧🥴 Recently went outside my comfort zone…
Started a business dev role with no experience, am learning on the fly
I have a business operations background, where I've managed a client success, marketing, and sales department for a B2C service. Taking on a business development role in the B2B space didn't come with the quick wins I was used to, it came with a lot of rejection and a slower process to close sales. Direct sales and strategic sales pushed my comfort zone. I talked openly about this with my manager, and he supported me as I landed sales calls and used my marketing background to generate leads.
Full storyWhen I'm stressed, you might notice me…
Less emotion, short in my communication, need alone time to think
I like when someone helps me sort out my thoughts with me, verbalizing things instead of containing it in my head helps me find relief
Full storyEpic work fails
Purchase button was hidden on all our checkout pages rip
To always test something before deploying it, especially if it's customer facing. User experience is everything. I ended up creating a QA checklist and a process where different client success team members would test something before it went live.
Full storyMy Achilles Heel is…
I can go down a rabbit hole and overanalyze things
Setting clear expectations so that I never have to guess and overwork to "cover my bases". Giving feedback and pulling me out of the weeds when you see me drilling into a topic too deeply
Full storyI really admire teammates who are…
Able to communicate openly, pay attention to detail, and get things done
Open communication leaves out the guesswork and shows that they can deliver/receive feedback. Getting work done is about being fair to other team members, sharing the workload, and following through on what you say you're going to do. Attention to detail creates higher quality work, it shows thought and intent, and prevents mistakes from happening
Full storyI like to get feedback when its given…
As long as your feedback comes from a place of wanting to see me improve, I'm all about it. Just leave time for me to ask questions after, because I usually need to clarify things.
Full storyMy happy place
The beach by my place is so quiet and untouched. I bike here after work, bring a book and a drink, and just sit until the sun sets.
Full storyMy core values
I do my best work and show up as my best self when I listen to my artistic/creative and intellectual sides. It's important for me to never stop learning and remain open to new experiences and opinions, it's what energizes and interests me. Authenticity matters because I can't do work or show up in relationships that don't align with my values, otherwise it makes my skin crawl.
Full storyThings that deeply motivate me…
I'm driven by the excitement of new experiences and I'm externally motivated. I love creating and being creative because it stretches my brain.
Full storyI learn best by…
I need things written out if I'm going to remember them. I also need some alone time after leaning something new so I can process and practice on my own.
Full storyOutside of work, you'll find me...
Play piano, dance (not well)
Full storyI'm energized at work by…
Productive meetings or no meetings at all
Full storyMe when sh*t hits the fan
I'm pretty calm when things explode because I know I need to be in order to keep everyone else calm #oldestsiblingvibes. I'll take responsibility for the parts that I messed up, and if I'm managing someone, I'll ask them privately what happened and it's usually more of a discussion. Then we focus on the solution and what we'll do differently moving forward
Full storyMy areas for growth
During project kick-offs, present the project plan with a clear "why". Afterwards, ask for feedback to see how clearly the plan was communicated
Full storyMy superpowers
Can make sense and organize large amounts of information and can prioritize and organize it into a plan of action
