Full storyHow I try to show up at work
I like being in the background. Maybe it's because I spent a lot of years in "chief of staff" roles. It might also be because I enjoy mastering the details and finding all the blind corners. I like being prepared and eliminating unnecessary surprises. I like empowering people who are in the limelight, leader role, or otherwise on the hot seat to do their leading in the best way possible. They have less time to do the deep thinking, so I do it for them, then hand over the result to hopefully empower them to lead.
Full storyMy areas for growth

Full storyHow I stand out
I have a mental image in my mind of high-performing teams, and I see everyone clicking not just "together" but also within themselves. It all started when I wanted to go on a two-week honeymoon, and I knew I had to train up my underling so he could do my job for me while I was gone. From that day forward, I knew developing others = freedom, and it made our team better overall in the end too!
