How I try to show up at work

I love working with early-stage teams, because there's an opportunity for everyone to have an outsize impact on the company and help shape company culture. I enjoy working with people who are willing to teach others and be teachable themselves. I believe this is especially helpful in smaller teams, so everyone can learn to be a "generalist" of sorts. I occasionally require time to process input—if I don't speak up as much during a meeting, it just means that I'm focusing on analyzing information before making an informed judgement or opinion. I'm an introvert and can sometimes find large group calls draining. I prefer working 1:1 with others or with smaller groups to go deep when problem solving. I'm a huge advocate for work-life balance. (I've never considered bragging about the number of hours logged in a week to be a badge of honor.) That said, I will always make time for any urgent issues that arise!

My areas for growth

Willing to openly have difficult conversationsMakes decisions promptly, even with uncertaintyMentors and develops teammates for their growth

I'm learning to be more comfortable with uncertainty. The logical part of me often tends to overthink things by trying to assess all possibilities and outcomes, but in many cases that turns out to be a futile exercise. One of my best takeaways from working with startups is to experiment quickly, learn fast from mistakes, and iterate accordingly. I'm working on being more decisive and making the most informed decisions with the best knowledge I have. I've gotten better at handling difficult conversations, but I know I can improve by having those conversations sooner rather than later. I strive for harmony and would like to think that I'm a diplomatic person, but that makes me adverse to conflict. I'm learning to move faster by actively vocalizing/surfacing issues as they arise, and not wait for things to deteriorate further before addressing them.

How I stand out

Creates warm, caring relationships with teammatesFosters high performance teamworkStays composed throughout conflict or difficult situationsMaintains effective work life balanceBalances internal resources effectively

I invest time and effort to understand my teammates' motivations, challenges, and goals. I believe that it's important to get to know each person as a unique individual in order to empower them to be their best selves at work. In times of conflict and challenges, I am able to help build alignment among stakeholders by uncovering common ground based on my knowledge of their individual traits.
