Because I care desperately about the quality of what gets done and I run very hard at the target, I can make political missteps or fail to nurture the right relationships. I also want everyone to be happy, which is, of course, impossible. I know I need to remember that achievement is never solely defined by the quality of my output, or my team's metrics - everyone else in the organization needs that output and those metrics to be explained clearly, and they need to be on board, not just intellectually but emotionally. I can come across as reserved, but really I'm a bit shy and a softie. True!
